On Wisconsin: The Meaning of the Recall Effort
by Don Radosh
June 4, 2012

The Wisconsin recall election takes place Tuesday, and as of Monday, most polls have Scott Walker way ahead. There are a lot of points to be made about the possible outcome of a Walker victory.

– Madison does not represent the entire state. A liberal bastion and a university town, it got a lot of press play and coverage during last year’s occupation by Occupy Wall Street types and students at the UW Madison campus. They made a lot of noise, stayed up all night singing and chanting and playing bongos, and made for great television. Then the Democratic members of the state legislature vacated their seats for a hotel in Illinois and refused to return home, in an effort to stop Scott Walker’s reforms from passing and being implemented.

– The reforms passed and, lo and behold, proved to be the kind of conservative reform that was effective and popular. Their implementation revealed the Democratic and trade union opposition to be not the “progressives” they claimed to be, but reactionaries who were standing in the way of necessary change.

Palin Headlines RightOnLine Conference, 'Tribute to Andrew Breitbart'
by Breitbart News

Former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will headline this year’s RightOnline conference in Las Vegas. The conference, which will be held June 15-16 in Las Vegas and is sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, will feature sessions from video journalist and ACORN and voter fraud-fighter James O’Keefe, pollster Scott Rasmussen, and online icon Michelle Malkin.

Surely the most talked about billing at the event, however, will be Palin. She is slated to headline Friday night’s “Tribute to Andrew Breitbart,” and will introduce Stephen K. Bannon’s “Occupy Unmasked,” which features Andrew Breitbart.

"We are thrilled and honored to be joined by Governor Sarah Palin. Her trailblazing spirit and love of country will provide the perfect tone to a night on which we gather to pay tribute to an American original and media giant, Andrew Breitbart," says Breitbart News President and CEO Larry Solov.

“Sarah Palin is an expert at harnessing social media technology and tactics to shape the narrative,” said AFP Foundation President Tim Phillips. “Few others have demonstrated Palin’s prowess at breaking the rules of the Old Guard Media. We’re thrilled to have her join us at RightOnline, which already features some of the most influential figures and publishers of online news in the country.”
