Arizona's Young Immigrants Approved by U.S. Won't Get Licenses
by Bloomberg News
August 15, 2012

Young immigrants authorized to work in the U.S. under a new federal program that kicked off today won’t be able to get driver’s licenses in Arizona.

Republican Governor Jan Brewer issued an executive order saying state law bars benefits or state-issued identification for those in the country illegally -- including those who qualify for the deferred enforcement program announced by President Barack Obama in June. She ordered agencies to adopt emergency rules to block access for an estimated 80,000 immigrants in Arizona who may qualify for the new federal program.

The order from Brewer came as thousands of young illegal immigrants lined up around the country to apply for work permits under the new rules. The program stops deportations of immigrants who have been in the country for at least five years, were brought to the U.S. before age 16 and go to school, graduate from high school or serve in the military, among other criteria.

Brewer was propelled to national prominence after signing a first-of-its-kind state immigration law in 2010 that requires police to check the immigration status of anyone they suspect is in the country illegally during stops, arrests or detentions.

Under existing law, immigrants in Arizona are able to get state identification as long as they can show they are lawfully present in the country, according to a statement from the Arizona Department of Transportation.

In her executive order, Brewer said documents issued under the new program don’t prove lawful status and allowing those young people to get state-issued identification or benefits would “have significant and lasting impacts on the Arizona budget.”

Brewer’s spokesman, Matthew Benson, said the president’s action has created confusion in state agencies and that Brewer is seeking to clarify and defend state law.

“The governor can’t undo what the president has done, but she can take a stand for state law,” Benson said. “By no definition are these individuals lawfully present or lawfully authorized to be in the United States. All they have received is a deferral from being prosecuted or deported.”

AP: US Economic 'Recovery' Weakest Since Great Depression
by Guy Benson
August 15, 2012

I'll just let the Associated Press do the explaining:
The recession that ended three years ago this summer has been followed by the feeblest economic recovery since the Great Depression. Since World War II, 10 U.S. recessions have been followed by a recovery that lasted at least three years. An Associated Press analysis shows that by just about any measure, the one that began in June 2009 is the weakest. The ugliness goes well beyond unemployment, which at 8.3 percent is the highest this long after a recession ended. Economic growth has never been weaker in a postwar recovery. Consumer spending has never been so slack. Only once has job growth been slower. More than in any other post-World War II recovery, people who have jobs are hurting: Their paychecks have fallen behind inflation.
The report slogs through a roster of malaise with sub-sections entitled, "feeble growth," "exhausted consumers," "the jobs hole," and "shrinking paychecks."  CBS News rendered a strikingly similar verdict last month:

Since CBS News anchor Scott Pelley delivered those words, unemployment has increased to 8.3 percent -- with "real unemployment" (unemployed, underemployed, given up hope) ticking back up to the 15 percent mark.  July marked the 42nd month in a row of 8-percent-plus unemployment.  In selling his $825 Billion borrowed money stimulus scheme, the president told Americans that the massive expenditure would prevent the unemployment rate from exceeding 8 percent.  Today, the president is calling for another unpaid-for stimulus program, and tax increases on productive small businesses.  Higher taxes, more spending, and blame:  He's grossly misreading history while blaming others -- including his opponent -- for our current state of affairs.  Leadership and accountability.

In the Trenches with Tea Party Warriors
by Conservative Sue
August 16, 2012

The battle for the soul of this nation is underway, and I've been very blessed to come in contact with amazing patriots who work day and night to spread the truth about our nation's problems. Like most, I was once a sideline spectator ...watching the war on conservative principles (and Christianity), as the liberal media steered the narrative for liberal ideologues. I saw this unprincipled liberal propaganda war for the hearts and minds of Americans on television and the internet as I lamented the state of our nation. I saw the endless federal usurpation of state's rights and individual liberty .. and felt helpless to do anything about it. Then, something amazing happened .. a grassroots movement called the Tea Party rose up across this country and gave me hope.

The Tea Party movement has been savaged by the liberal media. Nearly every mention of the movement in our liberal media is accompanied by slander. They paint Tea Party members as ignorant and hateful, but nothing could be farther from the truth. There is good reason for liberals to attack our movement, because we are the the beginning of the end of their false narrative. The truth being spread by these conservative warriors is reaching millions. Conservatives, who had long been silent, are now speaking out, loudly

On Twitter, Facebook, You-tube, Pintrest, and Google+ I am seeing a huge influx of conservatives who had never before used social media. Thousands of brand new bloggers are cropping up to take on the liberal media and establishment politicians. Conservative blog sites are increasing in number and those blogs which had already been established are seeing unprecedented growth. Conservatives are seeking the truth and looking for ways to help in the war to restore Constitutional government. This online medium has given us all an amazing tool to educate our citizens on the foolishness of liberal policies.

Since my arrival onto the blog scene, I have turned off my television. I learned, the hard way, that there is no easy way to learn the truth about what is going on in this world without putting in the time and effort to seek it out myself. After doing the hard work of finding the truth, I made it my mission to share what I was learning with others through my blogs. I have much left to learn, but I have peace now, knowing that the truth is out there, if we are willing to work hard to find it.

I am extraordinarily proud to be a member of the Tea Party. I stand on the front-lines daily along with thousands of others who dedicate their time to encourage others in the Tea Party movement and point out the errors in the liberal media's propaganda. Thanks to every patriot who has joined in the fight. Your work is noticed and appreciated by Tea Party nation.
