Can Mitt Romney Co-Opt the Conservative Media?
by Conor Friedersdorf
Published May 3, 2012

This is how to co-opt journalists. Eager for access to the Republican nominee, or curious about what he'd say at the meeting, they agreed to the off-the-record ground rules. It's easy to imagine how it could all play out. Romney vows he'll be a loyal conservative who'll ambitiously push a Tea Party agenda. And tells the journalists they're so very important. They feel important, in spite of themselves, for getting exclusive access; and having heard the man affirm his bona fides, they can't help but be won over a bit. They go easier on Romney, defending him at times while thinking that they possess private information the rest of us don't know -- stuff that Romney isn't saying publicly because he has to win over swing voters. It's perfect for Romney because he need never be held accountable to what he told the conservative journalists, or at least not nearly as accountable as if he'd been forced to say it on the record.

Piers Morgan Slays Himself in Goldberg Interview
by David Limbaugh
Published May 4, 2012

There was a silver lining for Jonah Goldberg in Piers Morgan's ambush interview of him allegedly concerning his new book, "The Tyranny of Cliches." Jonah couldn't have written a better script to illustrate his book's theme.

Someone really should explain to Morgan that when a host invites a guest to discuss the guest's book, the host ought to at least make a good-faith effort to pretend he has the slightest interest in allowing the author to expound on the book's contents -- as opposed to using the author as a prop to indulge the interviewer's own arguments against conservatives and their toxic opinions.

That someone might also inform Morgan that it's a perversion of the Socratic method for an interviewer to badger a guest into admitting the rhetorical premises of the interviewer's opinions rather than lead him through carefully constructed logical arguments to those conclusions -- never allowing the guest fully to answer his questions, never listening to his responses, making every one of his follow-up questions a classic non sequitur and putting words in the guest's mouth for the purpose of constructing and then demolishing various straw men.

A True Warrior in the Republican Party
by Conservative Sue

Mark Levin provided the best chastisement I've heard anywhere for those who lashed out at Speaker Gingrich throughout the 2012 GOP nomination battle (linked below). Levin says what most of the loyal followers of Newt have known all along: Newt is a conservative warrior for rank and file Republicans.

Newt Gingrich owes nothing to the party who systematically discredited him and assaulted him personally and professionally.  How quickly they forget that Newt brought back GOP dominance in Washington, D.C. Newt revived an ailing party that was viewed as weak and out of touch with the average American. Newt ushered in Republican leadership at every level of government: state, local, and national. Newt provided the blueprint for success to hundreds of new, passionate, conservative politicians who came to D.C. to clean up corruption and pare down liberal, big government. Newt didn't just revive the GOP, he revived conservatism. He reworked the House of Representatives leadership structure and passed landmark legislation in his Contract with America .. neither has been duplicated. He was the first and last in my lifetime who actually went to D.C., stood by every one of his promises, and delivered for the American people. He never backed down; he never apologized.

And, here we are, Newt has bowed out of the GOP nomination battle, yet carries on with the fight for the Republican Party. In spite of the lack of good-will from those in the GOP establishment, Newt still proudly carries the mantle of the Republican Party and has vowed to do everything in his power to ensure that Barack Obama is not elected in November. What a testimony. What a man.

I stand by Speaker Gingrich. I believe he is the lone voice in the wilderness within the Republican Party. He stands alone in providing actual solutions to our nations problems. He stands alone in providing the passionate leadership and vision we desperately crave. I may no longer hold respect for the GOP, but my faith in and respect for Newt Gingrich has never been stronger. Newt is the voice for conservatism in the GOP. I stand with Newt.

A true patriot speaks the truth about Newt Gingrich

  1. Anita Seridan says: My sentiments exactly! I also stand with this great man! Thank you Mark Levin!

  2. Too Little WAY too Late :(

  3. FYI, Mark said these words MANY months ago. I am just posting them now because I was asked to.. and thought it was appropriate to throw in my comments to show I agreed with Levin. Levin did not write the editorial, I wrote it. And I didn't just start saying these words this morning, I've been preaching the 'Gospel of Newt' since he started his campaign. I stand by my words.. and I stand #withNewt

  4. Romney LIED in Florida while spending $450.00 per vote. This is something I will NOT get over. I was there, it was a LIE and it was ugly. And for the MEDIA to continue with this CRAP show's me I can not trust them!!!!watch?v=qMpBBRUCMd8&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LL-QOEhi0zLciyA6rwovAx-w

  5. That was a thoughtful and accurate accounting of what has happened to our Speaker Gingrich. Whether you supported him or not, for the GOP and Elite Republicans to set out, with intention, to absolutely destroy a man who was third in line to the president of our country is dispicable. They weren't addressing policy, they were intent on destroying him. The man who would have actually changed things in Washington, disrupt their cozy little world, and make them actually do something in Congress. I read a little trivia yesterday. Congressional approval in 1984 was 20%, after Speaker Gingrich left 4 yrs later Congress approval rating was 60%, and today it falls in at 9%. Yes, Speaker Gingrich would have made change for the betterment of our great nation. It is a sad day in America.

  6. WHEN outmanuevered and outspent cut off from Meaningful contribution to where the Government is taking US

WHAT should WE do? COWER and PANIC running to out very oppressive and NON representative Party or Government Leaders for protection? Should WE Retreat or RELOAD and
ATTACK! I stand for the original principle- NEVER SURRENDER, NEVER SAY DIE, and DO NOT TREAD on ME-
e pluribus unum, my TEA friend, e pluribus unum.

I say NO! WE have already proven the STRENGTH of TEA, the way it reasonates with the PEOPLE...what WE have FAILED at is demonstrating EFFECTIVE ability to organize a leaderless organization into ONE STREAM of Directional Movement AT the National level.

I understand the 'leaderless' concept- Leaders have POWER and POWER is corruptable, especially at the NATIONAL level, where 'our parties' have succumbed totally to all such temptation to the point where they hardly 'represent' at all...what they do do is practice their corruption, and work hard at that all day long, while the PEOPLE suffer, and the Nation Decays...

WHY NOT use the 'leaderless format' where it fits best-
LETS HAVE NATIONAL TWITTER TEA PARTY RALLYS- on a regular basis OR KEEP one going from NOW till the GENERAL ELECTION and then thereafter monthly or weekly as required?

Tweets can be fed to designated tags from ALL the large organizations, which can break back out to facebook, and tags can be designated for checkin by members org by state and what have you...members could quickly be trained
for posting to designated tags with pics, comments and what have you, like posters in a regular rally

This can Assemble the Community and Call them to ACTION- those who hear the call can contribute what they are able and feel less ISOLATED.
